15 September - Culture seekers are in for a treat this autumn as London West End village, Seven Dials, officially welcomes the highly anticipated Unit X - a new art experience-led concept from the internationally acclaimed Unit London gallery enterprise.

Opening in late September members of the public can see the first-ever solo UK exhibition from Los Angeles-based artist, Liz Markus, a favourite amongst celebrities. Unit X will feature her signature style; bold and colourful canvases entitled 'Super Disco Disco Breakin' and her coveted T-Rex series of paintings. Both her work and technique are informed by a fascination with socialites, punk, new wave culture and the subconscious.

Following a seven year long history of pop-up exhibitions in Seven Dials, Unit X will be based in an exclusive courtyard at 40 Earlham Street, and will be home to lots of immersive events, cutting-edge collaborations, and a world-class roster of exhibitions.

Commenting on the opening, Samantha Bain-Mollison, Retail Director at Shaftesbury, said: 'We are excited to collaborate with Unit London again with their new experience-led concept, something Londoners are craving more than ever in post-lockdown London. In line with Seven Dials' new timed road closures and art-based installations throughout the seven streets, Unit X adds yet another compelling offering for visitors as they return safely to our streets.'

Joe Kennedy, Co-Founder at Unit London added: 'Myself and co-founder Jonny Burt are incredibly proud to open our showcase Unit X in Seven Dials, we have a strong connection with the area having opened a different pop up in all seven streets over the last seven years. We can't wait to open our doors to the public to give visitors the opportunity to experience art in a completely different way. The launch of our debut concept exhibition with world-famous Liz Markus is going to be an absolute treat!'

The launch of Unit X on Tuesday 22nd September coincides with the unveiling of Seven Dials' new collaboration with renowned artist and fashion designer Dame Zandra Rhodes, bringing colourful artwork to the seven streets that make up the Dial. As well as the newly launched, 'Seven Dials Unplugged' impromptu live music performances from upcoming UK artists to the area every Saturday between 1-5pm, 29 August to 10 October. The initiative supports a number of artists who have been out of work during lockdown, and aims to put a smile on faces as they visit the area.

Many independent restaurants have re-opened their doors to consumers over the last few months, with a number extending the popular new Government Eat Out to Help Out scheme into September. These include popular Japanese restaurant, Flesh & Buns and a London favourite, Pick & Cheese based in Seven Dials Market. With HomeSlice and Radisson Blu Hotel both recently reopening their doors for the first time since lockdown.
