Nuclearelectrica reported earnings results for the first half of 2017. For the period, the company reported net profit leapt to RON 133.7 million ($34.2 million/€29.2 million) from RON 1.73 million in the year-ago period driven by increased electricity output and sales. The company's results for the first half of the year were influenced by a 5.5% rise in electricity produced by Cernavoda NPP to 5.06 GWh, given the significantly shorter planned outage of the unit that was supposed to enter the planned outage programme. Electricity sales generated revenues of RON 869.7 million in the first half, up 20.2% year-on-year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose by an annual 54.4% to RON 393.2 million in the first half, while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased nine-fold to RON 147.2 million. The company's total revenue rose by an annual 17% to RON 876.5 million in the first half of the year.
