(Alliance News) - Piaggio & C. Spa announced Thursday that a contract has been signed with Foton Motor Group in Beijing for the joint development of a new range of electric-powered Porters.

"Piaggio's range of commercial vehicles will thus expand with 2 new four-wheel electric-powered variants, designed to best meet the specific needs of intra-city mobility, thanks to the combination of compact dimensions combined with a load capacity of at least one ton, which is particularly high for its category," the company explained in a note.

The new range of electric Porter will be produced in the Piaggio group's Italian plants in Pontedera and distributed by the end of 2024 in the main European countries "through a network with high specialization in sales and service of commercial vehicles, oriented to maximum customer satisfaction."

"The agreements signed today consolidate the positive partnership between the two groups that resulted in 2021 in the new Porter NP6, the first city truck, combining compact dimensions with extraordinary range, with eco-friendly bi-fuel engines and which has received considerable appreciation

by the European market."

Piaggio is 1.8 percent in the red at EUR2.85 per share.
