Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation reported consolidated and non-consolidated production results for the second quarter and first half ended September 30, 2017. For the quarter, on consolidated basis, the company reported pig iron production of 10.13 million tons against 10.76 million tons a year ago. Crude steel production was 11.69 million tons against 11.53 million tons a year ago.

For the first half of fiscal year 2018, on consolidated basis, the company reported pig iron production of 20.05 million tons against 21.26 million tons a year ago. Crude steel production was 23.12 million tons against 22.70 million tons a year ago.

For the second quarter, on non-consolidated basis, the company reported crude steel production was 10.19 million tons against 10.93 million tons a year ago.

For the first half of fiscal 2018, on non-consolidated basis, the company reported crude steel production was 20.09 million tons against 21.51 million tons a year ago.

For the second half of fiscal year 2018, on consolidated basis, the company expects pig iron production of approximately 21.40 million tons and crude steel production of approximately 24.80 million tons.

For the full fiscal year 2018, on consolidated basis, the company expects pig iron production of approximately 41.50 million tons and crude steel production of approximately 47.90 million tons.

For the second half fiscal year 2018, on non-consolidated basis, the company expects crude steel production of approximately 21.50 million tons.

For the full fiscal year 2018, on non-consolidated basis, the company expects crude steel production of approximately 41.60 million tons.

The company expects consolidated capital expenditure to be JPY 450.0 billion.
