Alsa, part of Mobico Group, is expanding its tourism business in Portugal with the acquisition of Lisbon-based travel agency Ibercruises, which leads the provision of handling services to the main cruise lines in Portugal and the Azores islands.
Ibercruises will join the Alsa's company BC Tours, which already has offices in Lisbon and Funchal that cater for the ports of Lisbon, Oporto and Portimao, Funchal and Azores islands. The acquisition reinforces and consolidates the business's position of BC Tours in Portugal, following the start of operations in the country earlier this year.
Isaac Álvarez, Director of the Alsa Tourism Unit, said: "I am thrilled to add Ibercruises business to BC Tours Group. The company has an excellent reputation in the cruise sector in Portugal and the Azores since 2005, and we are looking forward to keeping working closely with Carlos Santos and his excellent team of professionals, and welcoming them to the family of BC Tours and Alsa".
Carlos Santos, owner of Ibercruises Group, said: "My team is delighted and excited to join BC Tours Group, a company that we know well and have been working with closely for the past decade. Now it is a pleasure for me and my team to be part of the BC Group and I hope to keep offering our customers and partners the world class services that my proactive team has been developing for the past 19 years".
