Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant Wins Shipbuilding Certification for Wire Ropes Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant (part of Mechel Group) received certification licenses from Russia's Maritime Shipping Register. The certifier's experts confirmed that the plant's wire ropes are produced in compliance with the register's requirements, with the plant's quality control maintained at a high level. These licenses enable Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant to supply its products to shipbuilding companies.

The first license confirms Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant's quality control system as compliant with the maritime register's regulations. This means that Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant can now conduct tests and checkups of its zinc-coated wire ropes without the register's inspector present.

The second license acknowledges the plant as producer of wire ropes compliant with 27 Russian and international standards and regulations. These ropes are used by load-carrying vessels and towing steamboats as towing, mooring and anchor lines, as well as part of rigging lofts to lift and shift cargo.

During certification, the Maritime Register's inspector toured the plant's wire rope facility, watched as the zinc coating's adherence with the wire's steel base was being tested for mechanical properties, inspected technical documentation, appraised the level of the personnel's professional qualifications and the plant's quality control system. The inspection's results confirmed that Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant's ropes are produced in compliance with shipbuilding quality control and regulations. The Maritime Shipping Register's licenses are valid until 2025 with mandatory annual confirmation.

Russia's Maritime Shipping Register is one of the world's leading certifiers inspecting producers for compliance with maritime shipbuilding's regulations.
