Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.'s total passenger traffic continues to improve on month, with volume in August surpassing 3.0 million passengers, or up 30% from July. However, this is still 74% lower from a year earlier amid international border closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Passenger traffic in August fell from a year earlier to 3.3 million passengers, the airport operator said in a stock exchange filing Friday.

In the first eight months of 2020, Malaysia Airports' passenger traffic was down 65% from a year earlier at 32.7 million.

Aircraft movement across Malaysia Airports' whole system was down 62% from a year earlier at 37,681 in August, and down 54% at 342,113 in the first eight months of 2020.
