MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) _ Lydall Inc. (LDL) on Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $5.1 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Manchester, Connecticut-based company said it had profit of 28 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 35 cents per share.

The engineered products maker for the transportation and medical sectors posted revenue of $227.1 million in the period.

Lydall shares have risen 14% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $34.15, more than tripling in the last 12 months.
