Korea Electric Power Corporation approved election of CHEONG, SEUNG-IL as CEO at the extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of shareholders of the company held on May 28, 2021. He will officially take office on the first day of June for a three-year term. During the past three decades, Cheong has served in various key public official posts at government ministries, including president and CEO at Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) in 2018, and deputy minister for energy and resources and deputy minister for trade and investment in 2016. He also served as director general for FTA policy in 2015, and director general at the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in the early 2010s.
