Keppel Corporation today announced that it has retained the highest triple-A rating in the Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings1 following the latest review by MSCI last week. The Company has held the triple-A rating since February 2020.

Keppel Corporation is ranked as a leader, and among the top 8% of global industrial conglomerates, based on ESG criteria, in the MSCI All Country World Index (ACWI). The ACWI is MSCI's flagship global equity index, which covers more than 2,800 constituents. The Company was also rated as an ESG leader in the areas of corporate governance, labour management, and opportunities in clean tech.

MSCI ESG ratings aim to measure companies' resilience to long-term ESG risks and their ability to manage those risks relative to peers. Companies are scored on an industry-relative triple-A to triple-C scale across 1,000 data points on ESG policies, programmes and performance. Keppel Corporation is a constituent on the MSCI ACWI and World ESG Leaders Indexes, and has been included on the MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes since 2014.

Keppel's sustainability efforts have also been affirmed by its recent inclusion/ retention on several other global sustainability benchmarks:

Earlier this month, Keppel Corporation was included in S&P Global's Sustainability Yearbook 2021, and achieved the Industry Mover Award for the Industrial Conglomerates category. The Yearbook showcases the best performing companies in terms of financially-material ESG metrics. In 2020, S&P Global assessed 7,032 companies in 61 industries in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), with 630 sustainability leaders selected for the Yearbook. Keppel scored among the top 15% in the industry in the CSA, and also recorded the strongest score improvement within the industry.

In December 2020, Keppel Corporation achieved a score of A- for CDP's Climate Change Assessment, and was recognised by CDP as one of the Most Improved Companies for the year 2020, in the Hong Kong, Macau and Southeast Asia region. CDP is a non-profit that runs a global disclosure system that helps companies and cities manage their environmental impacts. The recognition is a testament to the Company's commitment to continually enhance its environmental performance in line with best practices.

In addition, Keppel Corporation has been recognised by Corporate Knight's Clean 200, as one of the companies leading the way in the transition to a cleaner energy future. The 2021 Clean200, which is published by Corporate Knights in partnership with Berkeley-based non-profit As You Sow and released yesterday, is an annual ranking of the world's largest publicly listed companies according to the size of clean energy revenues.

In addition to the MSCI ESG Leaders Indexes, Keppel Corporation is also an index component of the FTSE4Good Index maintained by the Financial Times Stock Exchange Group, the iEdge SG ESG Leaders Index and iEdge SG ESG Transparency Index by the Singapore Exchange, and the Euronext Vigeo World 120 by Euronext, the primary exchange in the Eurozone.

Keppel is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, and is committed to the 10 principles of the Global Compact.
