KOREA'S INCHEON AIRPORT, RANKED AS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD, OPTS FOR INDRA'S AIR NAVIGATION SYSTEMS
Indra has been awarded a contract by Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) for delivery of air traffic navigation systems to ensure safe landings at Korea's largest and one of the world's highest ranked airports
Indra will become the sole provider of landing systems to Incheon's four runways, contributing to safety and operational stability even in low-visibility conditions
Air traffic to Seoul's Incheon Airport relies on Indra's technology during the approach, landing and take-off, making Indra one of the key technology partners
Madrid, September 12, 2023.- Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) has awarded Indra a contract that strengthens the company's contribution to flight safety in the Republic of Korea. Indra will supply its Normarc instrument landing systems (ILS), distance measuring equipment (DME) and DVOR radio navigation systems, all contributing to safe aircraft navigation during the approach and landing.
Incheon, the main airport of Seoul, was recently ranked as the world's fourth best airport by Skytrax. Indra's radars and air traffic management systems manage all arriving and departing flights, as well as movements on the ground. In addition, as a result of the new contract, all of Incheon's four runways will operate with Indra's landing systems.
The contract is awarded based on Indra's solid technical competence on air navigation systems. Incheon is certified to operate in low-visibility conditions, known as CAT III, which impose very strict quality and integrity requirements. Indra offers a market-leading and top-performing landing system that meets the high standards of Korean aviation authorities.
South Korea has become a market of great strategic importance to Indra. Its air traffic management and navigation systems contribute to flight safety at airports and airbases across the country.
