STOCKHOLM--Sweden's Hennes & Mauritz AB said Thursday that it will propose Christina Synnergren be elected as a new member of the board of directors at its annual general meeting in May.

Ms. Synnergren has 20 years of experience from management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group where she was most recently managing director and senior partner. She has also held roles within the global fashion & luxury and retail leadership teams at BCG, but has chosen to leave the company during the spring.

Erica Wiking Hager will step down from H&M's board as law firm Mannheimer Swartling, where she is a partner, has adopted stricter policies regarding external board assignments, it said.
