ANCHORAGE, Alaska - While the cold and dark are a fact of life for Alaskans during the winter, it's especially impactful on those experiencing homelessness and crisis. GCI's $1,000 donation to The Glory Hall in Juneau supports the organization's mission to provide food, shelter and compassion to those most in need to achieve well-being.

'While providing support to those who need it most is always a priority for GCI, it's especially top-of-mind as we enter the holiday season,' said Jenifer Nelson, GCI's Senior Community Engagement Manager. 'The Glory Hall's nearly four decades of work to provide food, shelter and care to those in need is a shining example of what it looks like to truly serve their local community.'

The Glory Hall provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as emergency shelter, transportation and social service referral assistance, mental health counseling on demand, assistance with ID acquisition, laundry, showers, as well as volunteer opportunities, and more. The organization also distributes community donations of clothing, camping gear, personal hygiene products, and other items to those who need them based on availability.

GCI is one of Alaska's leaders in corporate philanthropy, donating approximately $2 million each year in cash, products and connectivity to organizations across the state. GCI is committed to giving back to the communities it serves and provides employees with 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer with local organizations. In 2019, nearly 550 GCI employees volunteered more than 5,300 hours.
