Rosseti Will Double Power Output to SUEK's Kuzbass Mines

03/02/2022

Rosseti Group has started upgrading the 500 kV Novokuznetskaya substation to increase the connection capacity of SUEK's mining enterprises from 60 to 123 MW. The power facility under the management of Rosseti FGC UES will be tooled up with digital automated emergency systems. Such work will help accelerate the development of the coal mining industry in the region.

In particular, the substation will be tooled up with modern devices for transmission of emergency and control signals (UPASK) manufactured in Russia. In the event of an emergency situation in power grids, UPASK complexes on a microprocessor base will ensure instant transmission of control commands to the 220 kV Sokolovskaya substation owned by SUEK, which will reduce the risk of damage to power grid equipment and the development of large-scale technological disruptions.

The activities will end in the first half of 2022.

"The commissioning of the upgraded substation will improve the reliability of power supply to SUEK's enterprises, which means increasing the stability of their work and the safety of miners," said Alexander Stebnev, top manager of JSC SUEK-Kuzbass.

The 220 kV Sokolovskaya substation is involved in the power supply of coal mines named after V.D. Yalevsky, Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya-1, Taldinskaya-Zapadnaya-2 and the Zarechny, Zarechny-Severny, Kamyshansky open pits in Prokopyevsky District.
The 500 kV Novokuznetskaya substation with a capacity of 1,602 MVA is a key power supply center in Kemerovo Region. In addition to supplying industrial enterprises, the substation provides electricity to Novokuznetsk, the oldest city in Kuzbass and the second largest city in the region (more than 540,000 people).
