Food delivery workers will start getting about $18 an hour in New York City come October after a judge approved raising the minimum wage from the current $11 an hour.

The $18 per hour pay will jump to $20 an hour by 2025 now that Judge Nicholas Moyne ruled against Uber, DoorDash and Grubhub which had filed restraining orders in State Supreme Court to block the pay increases, according to a New York Times report.

The pay hike was set to start in mid summer. The city council approved the pay increase two years ago.

The three delivery companies are expected to appeal the latest ruling and have argued that the pay increase will mean raising prices to consumers.
