Cubic : 20,000th Round Fired

At Cubic, we are proud to support militaries all over the world with our state-of-the-art, realistic and immersive training solutions. Since 2002, we have worked with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and British Army, providing large-scale, combat exercise training that incorporates simulated effects such as direct fire, artillery, mortar fire and more.

Our longstanding partnership with the British Army has resulted in numerous contract awards, one in which we received in 2018 to deliver an Artillery Mission Training System (AMTS) Concept Capability Demonstrator for the British Army's Royal School of Artillery (RSA). The Royal School of Artillery is the British Army's international center of excellence for artillery warfare.

Recently, the RSA achieved an important milestone - it fired the 20,000th round of synthetic training ammunition using Cubic's AMTS. Our solution allows users to realistically simulate all artillery drills to enable enhanced individual training and collective training. RSA utilizes the AMTS for virtual and simulated training so that soldiers can learn the skills and knowledge needed in order to qualify as an artillery soldier.

The firing of the 20,000th round of synthetic training ammunition is a milestone we take great pride in because it is a testament to the effectiveness of the innovative training solutions we deliver and the quality of service our team provides. The AMTS offers a paradigm shift in training by allowing soldiers to achieve superior levels of training at much lower costs than live firing. Additionally, it allows artillery soldiers to easily transition to live firing with improved competency and confidence, enabling more demanding live firing to be conducted.

Our multi-patented, applique wireless solution gathers the necessary data to generate direct and indirect firing solutions from on-platform sensors and processes the data to determine the point of impact, independent of operational computation. The system gathers positional data; barrel bearing and elevation; ammunition type; fuze and charge from system components; and emulated ammunition. It then uses this data to cue weapon effects in instrumented live, virtual and constructive (LVC) environments.

Additionally, the training system is interoperable with Cubic's SCOPIC LVC training suite, area weapons effects simulation systems, as well as any tactical engagement system for seamless integration into combat training centers.

For almost two decades we have supported the British Army at Salisbury Plain in the U.K. and BATUS, a training area the British Army utilizes in Canada for combat exercises. Our continued partnership represents all that we have accomplished together to advance the Ministry of Defence's training experience and standard.
