On June 8th, COSCOL Heavy lift vessel MV Da Hua successfully loaded two MHC cranes (net weight of 380 tons) at Nantong Port and sail to Burma. This is an extraordinary challenge in the loading history of COSCOL's DA type I multi-purpose heavy lift vessels, which shows the high level of marine technology, site operation ability as well as loading capability. They all totally reveals the spirit of 'Exceptional Capacity, Excellent Service' of the company.
Difficulties in loading:
1. limited length of Nantong wharf
2. with over-length and oversize cargoes which the centre-of-gravity is higher than the lifting point
3. with over-weight cargoes, the total weight of cargo + hanging beam is over 400 tons, however the weight capacity of those four lifting points is just 110 tons in each
if the tilt angles is over 3 degrees during the operation process, then the stress will be out of the design load
4. the breadth of two cranes exceeds the ship board that leads the difficulties of stowage
5. the cargo characteristic requires high on dunnage and lashing
All factors made this loading challenged. For solving problems, shipping department and marine technical center work together, making serious calculating, discussing and loading plan.
