Tokyo (April 22, 2024) - Bridgestone Corporation has once again been named to the prominent Supplier Engagement Leader list by global environmental non-profit CDP*1. This is the sixth time*2 for Bridgestone to be included on the Supplier Engagement Leader list with an 'A' rating, which is the highest score in CDP's Supplier Engagement Rating.

The Supplier Engagement Rating is a program that analyzes companies' climate change prevention and CO2 emission reduction activities across the supply chain. Through this evaluation, CDP assigns rankings based on performance and climate change prevention initiatives.

Bridgestone has placed sustainability at the core of its management and business and, with a corporate commitment "Bridgestone E8 Commitment"*3 as its axis, is accelerating transformation to realize its vision: "Toward 2050, Bridgestone continues to provide social value and customer value as a sustainable solutions company." Bridgestone is striving to build the foundation for sustainable value creation by enhancing its unique sustainability business model. The business model is to integrate the Group's efforts to realize carbon neutrality and a circular economy across the entire value chain from "produce and sell" and "use" of products to "renew" to raw materials with its business model. Also, the Group will evolve the model into more circular and regenerative to achieve a nature-positive world.

In January 2023, Bridgestone received a Science Based Targets (SBT) certification from SBT initiative (SBTi) for its mid-term targets of CO2 emissions reduction and supplier engagement*4. To accelerate its actions in the raw material procurement process, Bridgestone proactively utilizes its Global Sustainable Procurement Policy*5 and asks suppliers to set SBTs and develop emission reduction plans toward carbon neutrality. Bridgestone is strengthening supplier engagement with the policy, as well as monitoring results of assessment for their sustainability actions and providing support to their improvement. Being included in the Supplier Engagement Leader list with the highest rating is a strong recognition of Bridgestone's sustainable initiatives to create long-term environmental, social and economic benefits for stakeholders across its supply chain.
