Associated British Foods plc Appoints Dame Heather Rabbatts as Non-Executive Director and Member of Audit and Remuneration Committee, Effective March 1, 2021

Associated British Foods plc announced that Dame Heather Rabbatts has been appointed as a non-executive director of the company with effect from March 1, 2021. Heather is currently a non-executive director of Kier Group plc, where she is Chair of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee, the Risk Management and Audit Committee and the Safety, Health and Environment Committee. Heather has held a number of executive and non-executive roles including in local government, infrastructure, media and sports. She has previously been a non-executive director of Grosvenor Britain & Ireland and was the first woman on the Board of the Football Association in over 150 years. She currently chairs Soho Theatre and marketing company Four Communications and continues to work in film and sports. Heather will become a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees on appointment.
Associated British Foods plc is one of the largest European food processing groups. Net sales break down by family of products as follows:
- grocery and bakery products (21.3%): tea (Twinings brand), oils (Mazola and Capullo), spices (Spice Islands and Durkee), jam, bread, biscuits, sauces, etc.;
- sugar (12.9%): Silver Spoon, Billington's brands, etc.;
- ingredients (10.9%): yeasts, flavorings, emulsifiers, sterols, esters, etc.;
- processed food products (10.1%): mainly cereal and animal feed.
The remaining sales (45.6%) are from clothing distribution (408 outlets located mainly in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, and Portugal under the Primark and Penneys names).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: the United Kingdom (36.8%), Europe and Africa (38.2%), Asia/Pacific (12.7%) and Americas (12.3%).
