• Asociación UNACEM, UNACEM, Alicorp and ADRA Peru deliver food equivalent to 252,000 servings of food through the 'Manka Kusi' project.
  • It was held at the Huertos de Manchay Municipal Stadium, Sector B - Pachacámac, and was attended by the district mayor, Enrique Cabrera.

Together for the pots! Through "Manka Kusi", a project promoted by Asociación UNACEM, which has UNACEM, Alicorp, and ADRA Peru as strategic allies, more than 7,200 people in vulnerable situations residing in the Pachacámac district, will be able to benefit from the delivery of food equivalent to 252 thousand servings of food to 84 common Manchay pots.

With this, 420 people representing the directives of the common pots received products such as oil, tuna, noodles, flour, semolina, among others, with the aim of serving families in vulnerable situations thanks to the strategic alliance between the private company, the common pots and the Municipality of Pachacámac.

Within the framework of this action, the Alicorp company brought a food truck to train the directors of these pots and teach them some iron-rich recipes, which they can taste and, later, apply in their respective locations to prevent anemia. This activity is part of the nutrition training that "Ollas que Desarrollan" offers to the leaders where they are taught different alternatives for easy, rich and above all healthy menus.

"At Alicorp, our purpose is to Feed a Better Tomorrow and, in line with this, our Pots that Develop program continues to support common pots with food delivery, food utensils and training on management, nutrition and entrepreneurship, thus strengthening their skills on these issues and achieve self-sustainability. And now, thanks to the Manka Kusi project, in alliance with Asociación UNACEM and UNACEM, we will expand the scope so that hundreds of families in Manchay can benefit," says Ian Nightingale, Alicorp's head of Sustainable Development.

The Manka Kusi project, promoted by the UNACEM Association, has been supporting the common pots of Manchay enrolled in the program with various trainings. Likewise, it has been improving the infrastructure of its premises with modern kitchen modules, to those that meet the requirements and documentation. This year, its goal is the implementation of 12 modules, which will benefit more than 1,000 people in its entirety.

"With the aim of safeguarding the food security of the most vulnerable population, from UNACEM, and hand in hand with our allies, we join forces through Manka Kusi to support those who carry out this invaluable work. For example, through the implementation of the new kitchen modules, we seek to improve the sanitary conditions for preparing food in common pots. This, hand in hand with constant monitoring and assistance, as well as the delivery of kitchen and hygiene kits, among others, is the answer to the main needs of women who make it possible for common pots to function in the country on a day-to-day basis. ", mentioned Eduardo Sánchez, general manager of UNACEM.
