FTSE 100 Seen Opening Lower as Traders Weigh US Inflation Data

0640 GMT - The FTSE 100 is seen opening lower as traders assess U.S. inflation data and U.K. GDP data. IG futures data show the index opening 41 points lower, having closed on Thursday at 7618.6 points. The U.S. annual inflation for July advanced to 3.2% from 3.0% in June, softer than the 3.3% consensus forecast by economists in a WSJ poll. Investors fear that rising energy and food prices could push up inflation and result in further interest-rate rises. "An increasing number of investors and the Federal Reserve's (Fed) Mary Daly warned that this was 'not a data point that says victory is ours'," Swissquote Bank analyst Ipek Ozkardeskaya writes.
