TOKYO, April 26 (Reuters) - Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said on Friday he will attend the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) annual meeting to be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on May 2-5, where currency market volatility could be among the focus of debate.

Finance ministers and central bank governors from Japan, South Korea and China usually hold a trilateral meeting, as well as a gathering with counterparts from members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), on the sideline of the ADB meetings.

In a news conference, Suzuki said he plans to attend a scheduled meeting with Japan, South Korea, China and ASEAN finance leaders in Tbilisi.

Suzuki's visit would come at a time when markets are rife with speculation on whether Japan could intervene in the currency market to stem the yen's recent sharp declines.

Some emerging Asian economies have also seen their currencies fall sharply against the U.S. dollar, which has gained steadily on receding expectations of a near-term U.S. interest rate cut. (Reporting by Satoshi Sugiyama and Leika Kihara; Editing by Christopher Cushing)
