Ireland unemployment rate rises to 4.4% in April from 4.1% in March

(Alliance News) - Ireland's jobless rate edged slightly higher in April, numbers from the Central Statistics Office showed on Wednesday.

According to the CSO, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate picked up to 4.4% in April, from a revised rate of 4.1% in March. On an annual basis, the jobless rate rose from 4.1% in the same month a year prior.

The number of those unemployed rose 7.6% to 124,200 in April, from 115,400 in March. Year-on-year, the number of those unemployed was up by 9,900.
