The London stock exchange reopened today after a long weekend for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The FTSE 100 was up 1.3%, following Friday's data showing the US economy created more jobs in May than expected. Investor sentiment also improved after China announced a further easing of Covid restrictions over the weekend.
Today, the focus will be on Boris Johnson, which will face a no-confidence vote this evening, as MPs will decide whether he should continue as Prime Minister.
Corporate earnings will also be closely watched this week, including those of BAT, Wizz Air and Aveva, as well as inflation data for the UK, Europe and the US, all due on Thursday and Friday.
