European ADRs Climb Higher in Wednesday Trading

(MT Newswires) -- American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 1.42% higher at 1,062.45 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Wednesday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm Zealand Pharma (ZEAL) and 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS), which each rose 5.8%. They were followed by biotech company Forward Pharma (FWP) and automation company ABB Ltd. (ABB), which each gained 3.8%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company Genfit (GNFT) and pharmaceutical company Sanofi (SNY), which fell 6.8% and 4.7%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies DBV Technologies (DBVT) and MorphoSys (MOR), which lost 2.6% and 1.5%.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company Verona Pharma (VRNA) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which climbed 9.3% and 8.5%, respectively. They were followed by software firm Endava (DAVA) and financial services company Barclays (BCS), which rose 5.1% and 3.4%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB), which dropped 2.8% and 2.1%, respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Avadel Pharmaceuticals (AVDL) and biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA), which were off 1.5% and 1.3%.
