CAIRO, Nov 25 (Reuters) - Egypt and Israel have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to potentially increase natural gas supplies from Israel to Egypt for re-export, Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement on Thursday.

The agreement also includes the possibility of using an existing pipeline between the two countries to transport hydrogen in the future, it said.

The deal is part of efforts aimed at expanding the use of less carbon-intensive fuels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the region, the statement added. (Reporting by Ahmed Ismail; Writing by Ahmad Elhamy; Editing by Jan Harvey)
