If Chloe Can is a charity focussed on empowering young people across the U.K. to follow their dreams. We partnered with If Chloe Can to help support young people in pursuing a career of their choice.

If Chloe Can was established by Member of the U.K. Parliament Esther McVey in 2013 and works with schools to provide girls aged 12-14 with career advice and female role models.

The charity helps young people consider their future occupations and build confidence, assertiveness and resilience to help them pursue their dreams.

When the U.K.'s first national lockdown began in March last year, the work of If Chloe Can became more important than ever. With the support of Zoom, the organization was able to continue providing free career advice and guidance to school pupils across the country.

As part of our partnership, If Chloe Can held a series of workshops via Zoom with girls in Years 8 and 9 at Kings Warrington School in Cheshire. The five-week programme focused on creating opportunities for girls to learn about and engage with the world of work, and to develop their self-confidence.

The charity is supported by over 200 role models who help young people achieve their dreams, with key involvement from inspirational women including Professor Sarah Gilbert, the vaccinologist behind the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine, and Jo Salter, Britain's first female fast jet pilot.

Sophie Betts, who teaches at King's Leadership Academy Warrington, said, 'The If Chloe Can course has been a highlight of the year for some of these girls. The opportunity to learn from leaders from a range of careers has been truly inspiring. The girls have been able to be self-reflective throughout and have been encouraged to see their own strengths and how this could relate to their futures.'

McVey said, 'Having started life as a Barnardo's child myself, and ending up as a government Cabinet Minister, I believe anyone can achieve their goal given the right support, knowledge, and opportunities. This online course is the culmination of more than 15 years of work, both practical and academic, involving teachers, parents, and thousands of pupils, driven by a desire to promote social mobility and extend opportunities to all.'

During a period when education has been severely disrupted, If Chloe Can has continued to help young people improve their independent learning skills and achieve their goals, setting them up for university and life beyond school. We are delighted that Zoom has played a role in supporting young people in this way.

Zoom has also extended its free offering for primary and secondary schools around the globe on its basic plan to the end of 2021 as part of its ongoing commitment to the education sector, enabling teachers to teach and students to learn from anywhere.
