Yum Brands Inc. has named Lauren R. Hobart, president of Dick's Sporting Goods Inc., to its board, effective Nov. 12, a news release said. Hobart, a former Sonic board member, will replace Comcast Corporation CFO and senior EVP Michael J. Cavanagh, who is retiring from the board.

"Lauren will make an excellent addition to the Yum! Brands Board as she brings broad leadership experience and a wealth of knowledge from well-known and highly respected retail and consumer products companies," Non-executive Board Chair and Target CEO Brian Cornell, said in the release.

Yum Brands CEO David Gibbs added that "the events of this year" have driven a lot of change in consumer trends through which Hobart has shown exceptional skill at Dick's.

"Lauren has demonstrated strong leadership driving Dick's digital transformation and the growth of its e-commerce business and has an impressive brand-building, operational and marketing track record," Gibbs said in the release. "These strengths … will be invaluable as we elevate and invest in our customer and employee experience with technology and innovation at the forefront."

The company's board also named Paget Alves, former Sprint chief sales officer and current Yum Brands board director, as chair of the Audit Committee. He succeeds Thomas C. Nelson, effective Nov. 12. Nelson, who is chair, CEO and president of National Gypsum Company and a Yum Brands Director since 2006, will remain a member of the governing body for the company.

Yum Brands, based in Louisville, Kentucky, has over 50,000 restaurants in more than 150 countries and territories, under the KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell brands.
