(MT Newswires) -- Vodafone Group's (VOD.L) consortium with 16 companies including BAE Systems (BA.L) and Swedish construction company Skanska (SKA B.ST) secured funding of 30 million pounds sterling ($41 million) from the UK government, City AM reported Tuesday.

The funding, provided by UK Research and Innovation, will be used to develop remotely operated autonomous drones for testing nuclear sites in Britain.

The telecommunications company climbed marginally, BAE was down marginally, while Skanska was up almost 1% on Tuesday's close.
