MIDLAND, Texas (AP) _ Viper Energy Partners LP (VNOM) on Monday reported first-quarter net income of $16.6 million.

On a per-share basis, the Midland, Texas-based company said it had profit of 22 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 23 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 33 cents per share.

The oil and gas company posted revenue of $201.9 million in the period, exceeding Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $173.8 million.
