Viasat

Two high-profile global companies - LinkedIn and Ragan Communications -recently recognized Viasat as a top place to work.

Ragan Communications Employee Communications & Top Places to Work Awards singles out companies for "exceptional internal communications ... that kept their workforce engaged and informed.

"These workplaces champion their diverse workforce and provide resources and support to help employees grow and succeed in their careers," according to Ragan.

Viasat was celebrated for a culture that "spurs an entrepreneurial mindset in its workforce."

"Employees are encouraged to think innovatively and are supported with tuition reimbursement, mentoring, personal wellness benefits and more. That makes Viasat a Top Place to Work in Ragan's Employee Communications and Top Places to Work Awards," reads the listing.

It also recognizes Viasat for empowering employees "to create their own 'startups' within Viasat, allowing them to tackle problems with company support and without all the individual risk of a true startup. This open culture allows employees to take on tasks outside of their typical domain and learn new skillsets.

"The company supports internal mobility, launching career paths for employees to manage their career journey. This support is evident at the top - more than 50% of the company's executive leadership have been building their careers with Viasat for 10 years or longer."

Ragan also highlights Viasat's tuition reimbursement program, mentoring programs, employee resource groups and its "culture of giving" that encourages employees to donate and volunteer.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn's Top Companies list is an annual recognition of 50 companies that are investing in their employees, helping them build careers that set them up for long-term success.

Viasat ranked alongside companies like Apple, Raytheon, JP Morgan Chase and IBM.

2022 marks the 6th year LinkedIn has recognized top companies for career growth. The professional network looks at seven areas of career progression in making its choices, including ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity and spread of educational backgrounds.

"These are the companies that are offering stability in our ever-changing world of work - the ones that are not only attracting workers, but retaining them," reads a LinkedIn release about the list.

Viasat Chief People Officer Melinda Kimbro credits Viasat's employees for the recognitions.

"The world has changed over the last two years, and we are very proud of how our leaders and our teams have quickly evolved with us to meet these new challenges," she said. "It's our people - committed to that purpose, that unite us and make it all possible. We are immensely proud of our global team and for this recognition from LinkedIn and Ragan."

Over the course of the pandemic, Viasat increased its career development and wellness efforts to benefit existing employees and boost recruitment. New wellness offerings include a mediation/mental health app, flexible time off for eligible U.S. employees and enhanced Family Care leave coverage. Viasat also launched Workday Learning, with a library of course offerings for all employees, offered new leadership training programs, and revamped its mentorship program.
