Berlin-based digital freight forwarder sennder said Wednesday that it has acquired Uber Technologies Inc.'s European freight business.

The company said Uber would acquire a minority stake in sennder as part of the deal, although no financial details were disclosed for the all-stock transaction.

Sennder said it would refer shippers seeking freight brokerage or similar services in North America to Uber Freight and vice versa as part of the agreement.

"This collaboration with sennder allows us to further extend our reach in Europe while doubling down on our Uber Freight business in North America, and to jointly push the digital freight industry forward," said Lior Ron, head of Uber Freight.

Uber's European freight business will continue operating under the sennder brand, sennder said.

The deal is set to expand sennder's presence in Amsterdam, where Uber Freight has a team.

Uber Freight's European General Manager Tom Christenson will join sennder as chief operating officer, sennder said.
