Halkbank released its financial results for the third quarter of 2021

Support Worth 603.1 billion TRY from Halkbank to the

Turkish Economy

As of the end of September 2021, Halkbank increased its asset size by 9.1 percent year-on-year to 724.2 billion Turkish lira. Creating economic momentum through the financing options it provides primarily to women entrepreneurs, artisans, tradespeople and SMEs, Halkbank increased its total loans to 603.1 billion Turkish lira in the third quarter of the year, a rise of 7.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Halkbank's total deposits grew by 21.4 percent in this period to reach 534.8 billion Turkish lira.

In the third quarter of the year, Halkbank carried out initiatives that will develop and implement projects that will help improve the economic and social wellbeing of our people, beginning with micro businesses. The Bank also undertook investment-,production-, employment- and export- oriented projects that will set an example for the banking sector. Halkbank CEO Osman Arslan remarked, "Within the framework of our country's economic policy, we have provided significant financial support to all sectors, particularly to our tradespeople and SMEs. The loans we have granted as part of the framework of normalization process have given the real economy some urgently needed breathing space. At Halkbank, we continued our contribution to the country's economy by increasing our total loans to 603.1 billion Turkish lira in the third quarter of the year."

Arslan emphasized the importance of Halkbank among the banks that supports the Turkish economy through its asset size, which has reached 724.2 billion Turkish lira, and drew attention to the development in total deposits. "We increased our deposits by 21.4 percent in the third quarter year-on-year to 534.8 billion Turkish lira," he said.

Financial Support Worth 6.4 Billion TRY for Women Entrepreneurs

Arslan drew attention to the initiatives carried out to attract considerable public attention in the first nine months of the year with the advantageous loans provided to women entrepreneurs and the "Productive Women Meetings," adding: "We provided support valued at 6.4 billion Turkish lira on favorable terms to 67,000 women all over Turkey who are engaged in different business lines or are preparing to do so. Through our efforts, we have created one of the biggest projects that contributes to our national women entrepreneur ecosystem. As such, we have provided support to protect against the economic impact of the pandemic and involved ourselves in the acceleration process of the economic momentum at the regional level. At the end of the first year, we will follow our goal of including more women in economic life and continue our project of assisting 100,000 entrepreneurs with a 10-billion Turkish lira loan support."

Strong Support for Tradespeople, Artisans and SMEs

Arslan stressed that initiatives taken for women entrepreneurs demonstrate the importance of the Bank once again as it provides financial support for artisans, tradespeople and SMEs. He continued: "Halkbank is one of the biggest supporters of these segments, which constitute the lifeblood and backbone of the Turkish economy. also remarked, "We are continuing our leadership journey at full speed in SME banking, including tradespeople loans. We have a market share of 20.7 percent in this category with our SME loans, which have reached a size of 205.3 billion Turkish lira."

Halkbank Named Bank of the Year

During this period, the Bank's success attracted attention in banking and finance circles nationally and internationally. Arslan stated, "Our efforts have been recognized with great awards. Halkbank was named the 'Bank of the Year' globally at the International Business Awards. It brought a total of seven gold, 12 silver and one bronze awards to our country with this great success. We were also selected as the 'Employer of the Year in the Banking Sector' in the Human Resources category. Our products, services and projects supporting women received five gold awards in total. These international awards have proven highly motivating for all Halkbank employees in their efforts to help Turkey develop and nurture unique and innovative projects," he continued.
