European ADRs Tumble Lower in Thursday Trading

(MT Newswires) -- American depositary receipts of European stocks were trading 2.91% lower at 965.28 on the S&P/BNY Mellon Europe Select ADR Index on Thursday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by hotel booking site trivago (TRVG) and biopharmaceutical company argenx (ARGX), which rose 1.7% and 1.3%, respectively. They were followed by biotech firms Forward Pharma(FWP) and Zealand Pharma (ZEAL), which were up 0.7% each.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by telecommunications company Ericsson) (ERIC) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS), which fell 9.7% and 7.4%, respectively. They were followed by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR) and oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE), which lost 6.9% and 6%.

In the UK and Ireland, the only gainers were biopharmaceutical companies NuCana (NCNA) and Verona Pharma (VRNA), which rose 6.6% and 4.5%, respectively.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and pharmaceutical company Avadel Pharmaceuticals (AVDL), which dropped 8.5% and 8.1%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which lost 5.4% and 5.3%.
