Rome, 22 November 2021 - Terna obtains another international recognition of its excellent sustainability performance. The company led by Stefano Donnarumma was, in fact, included for the second time in the GLIO/GRESB ESG Index, the first global index specialised in the analysis of the best practices in environmental, social and governance (ESG) sectors adopted by listed companies that manage crucial energy, transport and telecommunication network infrastructures. The Italian electricity grid operator is one of only eight Italian companies out of 159 global enterprises included in the index.

Specifically, Terna obtained for the second consecutive time the A rating which is the maximum level of assessment (on a scale that starts from the lowest level E).

With this further recognition, the Italian national grid operator further strengthens its presence as a world leader in sustainability, a strategic driver and one of the pillars on which the company's business is based. The 2021-2025 "Driving Energy" Industrial Plan confirms the central role of sustainability in Terna's business, defining specific objectives, aimed at creating value in the medium-long term: on the basis of the criteria of the European Taxonomy, in fact, 95% of the approximately € 9 billion of investments planned by Terna in the next five years are by their nature sustainable.

The GLIO/GRESB ESG Index, launched in January 2021 and the only one of its kind, was created with the merger of skills promoted by the GLIO (Global Listed Infrastructure Organization) - the organisation representing listed companies that manage critical infrastructures for the daily functioning of society and the global economy, market capitalisation value of 2.8 US dollars - and by the GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark), a leading organisation in the sector specialised in assessment and benchmark of data on the ESG transparency of companies.

This index has a particular influence on SRIs (Socially Responsible Investors), those investors sensitive to ethical matters that are increasingly numerous and aware of the importance of companies to observe objectives related to ESG criteria. The assessment for the GLIO/GRESB ESG Index is made up of different levels of analysis and evaluates the disclosure of companies with respect to the following ESG areas: sustainability governance, sustainability implementation, operational performance data, stakeholder engagement practices.

In addition to its inclusion in the GLIO/GRESB ESG Index, Terna is also present in the main international sustainability indices, among which Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, ECPI, Euronext Vigeo Eiris FTSE4Good, MIB 40 ESG, MSCI and Stoxx

Global ESG Leaders.
