The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has recognized Tenaris as sustainable leader in the steel sector for a fourth consecutive year.

The worldsteel general meeting, held virtually this year due to the ongoing pandemic, announced the winners Tuesday, April 13, 2021, with the awards having been sent to companies in their respective home countries.

Tenaris is joined by Ternium, JFE Steel Corporation, JSW Steel Limited, Novolipetsk Steel, Outokumpu Oyj, Severstal, Tata Steel Europe and Tat Steel Limited - all companies that have demonstrated performance data for six of the worldsteel sustainability indicators including material efficiency (% of materials converted to products and co-products), environmental management systems (% of employees & contractors working in EMS-registered production facilities), lost time injury frequency rates, employee training, investment in new processes and products, and economic value distributed (% of revenue). Companies must also publish an annual sustainability-related report to qualify for the award.

Tenaris has a long-term commitment to responsible, sustainable operations guided by core values in safety, health, environment, quality, and transparency.

In February, the company announced its decarbonization strategy to reduce CO2 emissions by 30 percent by 2030, a further commitment to address climate change in its operations.

'With our new medium-term reduction target, we expect to maintain or enhance the competitive differentiation we consider that we have today in this area,' said Tenaris Chairman & CEO Paolo Rocca in the Chairman's Letter of the 2020 Sustainability Report. 'We are also positioning ourselves in new segments associated with the energy transition, developing our product and service portfolio for these applications.'
