Telekom Slovenije gives its end-of-the-year EUR 30,000 donation to five organisations that help seniors, children and adolescents

Telekom Slovenije gave its end-of-the-year donation in the amount of EUR 30,000 to five organizations that help support seniors who live alone, and children and adolescents who require rehabilitation, suffer from long-term illnesses or who come from socially disadvantaged families. Telekom Slovenije donated EUR 10,000 to the Botrstvo (Sponsorhip) project, becoming a sponsor for 14 children for the next two years. Four EUR 5,000 donations went to the Kamnik Centre for Education and Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped Children and Adolescents, Strunjan Elvira Vatovec Centre for Education and Training, Zlata Mreža institute, and the Humanitarček association.

Telekom Slovenije is actively socially responsible throughout the year in its sponsorship and donation activities, and at the end of the year it additionally helps those who need help the most. "As the leading Slovenian operator, we responsibly give back to the society we operate in.Social responsibility is an integral part of our operations, as demonstrated by our heartfelt and caring employees, who always take their time to help those who find themselves in trouble," said Cvetko Sršen, President of the Management Board of Telekom Slovenije.

The Botrstvo in Slovenia project was launched by the Friends of the Youth Association Ljubljana Moste-Polje back in 2010. It is aimed at helping children and adolescents from families all over Slovenia, who need additional support and help to improve their quality of life. "The pandemic ushered in a lot of new problems for many people.Telekom Slovenije's donation made them a sponsor to fourteen children who would otherwise not get many opportunities. For the next two years these children will be able to participate in extra-curricular activities, have a healthy development and access to equal opportunities," said Anita Ogulin, the president of Friends of the Youth Association Ljubljana Moste-Polje. On behalf of Telekom Slovenije the donation was handed to Anita Ogulin by the President of the Management Board Cvetko Sršen.

Kamnik Centre for Education and Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped Children and Adolescents (CIRRUS Kamnik) has been working in rehabilitation and training of persons with impaired mobility since 1947. With their help adolescents whose condition does not permit them to participate in the traditional educational system can receive education and training for independent living, and some also for work. "We are happy that Telekom Slovenije helps children and adolescents with special needs, proving that it is truly a socially-responsible and socially-oriented company.During the COVID-19 pandemic and the related measures, children with special needs had an especially difficult time.We will put the donation towards providing educational, counselling, therapy, rehabilitation and medical services," said Goran Pavlič, director of CIRIUS Kamnik.

Eighty children and adolescents with special needs attend the Strunjan Elvira Vatovec Centre for Education and Training. More than half of them have long-term illnesses and will be dependent on their parents and the society for the rest of their lives. The Centre aims to provide all of them with the opportunity for learning, work, and play with the goal of developing their full potential. "Our students all love sports and will be happy to see the major renovation of our outdoor sports facilities.Telekom Slovenije's donation will allow us to repave the basketball field, and we will also make a new entrance and lighting on the playground.Being and playing outdoors is highly important for the psychophysical development of every child, and in sports our students also get to learn how to act and work in a team," emphasised Korado Lešnik, the headmaster of the Elvira Vatovec Centre for Education and Training.

Zlata mreža institute's project PROSTOFER provides free rides to seniors in 74 municipalities across Slovenia. "Last year alone 25 new municipalities joined the project, which shows that seniors truly need free rides to take care of essential errands, like seeing the doctor, going to the pharmacy, the post office, the bank and similar. Many seniors live alone or at remote locations, making this kind of assistance truly necessary. We will be putting the donation towards volunteer training, as they are the heart of our project, and will continue to strive to make free rides for seniors available across all of Slovenia," said Miha Bogataj, director of the Zlata mreža institute.
