The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday that it has decided not to refer the planner merger between SAP SE's cloud-communications unit SAP Digital Interconnect and Sweden's Sinch AB to a phase 2 investigation.

Earlier this year, SAP and software company Sinch reached a 225 million-euro ($266.8 million) agreement over the sale of the unit to Sinch. In September, the CMA said it was opening an investigation into the deal, saying it could lead to "a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the United Kingdom for goods or services."

The CMA said it would publish the text of the decision on its website as soon as practicable.
