Sibanye-Stillwater Ltd. said Thursday that a New York court has dismissed a suit against the company related to fatal incidents that occurred at its mining operations in 2018.

The class action brought against the South African gold miner alleged that certain statements made by the company and Chief Executive Neal Froneman were false and misleading, and violated the U.S. federal securities law.

The court found that the plaintiffs failed to allege any violation of the U.S. securities law, and failed to establish that the company and Mr. Froneman acted with fraudulent intent, or that losses were caused by the statements in question.

The court proceedings are now concluded, Sibanye-Stillwater said.
