As part of AI Journey - a series of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science (DS) events - Sber is holding Russia's first online conference for middle and high school students called AI Journey Junior on December 5, 2020.

The event will start with an open lesson on AI, which will be taught by Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank. Ed Newton-Rex, Product Director Europe for TikTok, will be the next speaker. Then, Intel will hold a small academic competition online in the form of a quest. The program is scheduled to close with a master class on the SberClass digital platform and a presentation by Kim Pallister, CTO of Intel's VR, Gaming and E-Sports Group.

On top of that, schoolchildren will test their DS&AI knowledge and skills and challenge for a money prize in a special category of the international online AI Journey Contest. The best solutions will be announced at the award ceremony during the AI Journey conference.

Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:

'Russia has never seen the kind of online conference we're holding. It's designed to help children who are interested in artificial intelligence and data science improve their skills, empower them, and help them understand that even now they can change this world by mastering future technology. To do this, we have assembled a unique team of real professionals. They will share relevant knowledge that cannot be found in textbooks because the industry is transforming literally every day and theory does not keep pace with practice. Our event is free, and everyone can take part in it.'

AI Journey is the largest platform where you can find up-to-date information about artificial intelligence and its application in Russia and abroad. The event is organized by Sberbank in cooperation with leading Russian and foreign technology companies.

In 2019, the international AI Journey conference attracted more than 9,000 participants from around the world and 150 leading industry experts as speakers, thus hitting the world's Top 5 DS/AI conferences. This year, in addition to AI Journey Junior, there'll be an online competition in AI and a three-day online conference on solutions in machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, neuromorphic and heterogeneous computing, to name a few. Among the recognized experts who have confirmed their attendance are Mike Davies, director of the Neuromorphic Computing Lab, Intel; Laurens van der Maaten, Research Director, Facebook AI Research, NY Site Head; and Gary Bradski, President of OpenCV. All in all, the conference will have about 200 leading Russian and international speakers.
