While there is a clear pay gap today major steps have been taken to address the pay gap and working environment for minority ethnic employees, says Savills. The report shows the real estate advisor's mean average hourly ethnicity pay gap is 19.59% and the mean ethnicity bonus pay gap of 56.84%.

Key initiatives undertaken by Savills UK to narrow the pay gap and support staff across the business includeSenior talent: Increasing the diversity of applicants through the engagement of specialist recruitment platforms and requiring retained agencies to provide a shortlist of diversified candidates.

Future leader: Building a long term pipeline of business leaders with our graduate and apprentice schemes, removing entry barriers and providing application coaching sessions.

Career development: providing structured leadership and management training programmes, as well as mentoring scheme in order to support the progression of career within Savills.

Health and well-being: Providing confidential counselling services to all staff members and identifying therapists who are able to provide additional support on issues related to race and ethnicity.

Celebrate cultures: Raising awareness through educational pieces on different cultural activities and celebrations in the UK.

Reverse mentoring: Continuing to deliver reverse mentoring for UK Board Members and staff from the Diversity and Inclusion network at Savills.

Education: Updated mandatory Diversity and Inclusion training for all staff, including case studies and modules on microaggression, unconscious bias and race in the workplace.

Calling out bad behaviours: Allies programme to encourage staff to understand issues relating to race and empower all staff to stand up to bad language and behaviours.

Richard Rees, Savills UK Managing Director, adds: "This is our first ethnicity pay gap report and the figures that we have published this week show we still have a lot of work to do to address the representation of minority ethnic employees at Savills, especially at senior levels. We are at the early stages of our journey and are developing strong foundations on which we can grow into a more diverse and inclusive organisation. Key actions highlighted within the report have been implemented and we are continually reviewing these so we can successfully close the ethnicity pay gap and create an environment to allow every member of the Savills family to be the best they can be."
