Automatic disconnection of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 from the grid

SN Nuclearelectrica SA announces that Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 automatically disconnected from the power grid on the evening of July 28, 2021 following a transient in the energy system which affected the classical part of the unit, without affecting the nuclear safety functions of the reactor.

The automatic disconnect of Unit 2 occurred under safety conditions, all the systems of the units functioning and responding in compliance with the design in such circumstances.

The automatic disconnection of Unit 2 and remediation works have no impact on the nuclear safety of the reactor, personnel, population and environment.

SN Nuclearelectrica SA will issue a press release when Unit 2 is reconnected to the power grid.
