Shares of Royalty Pharma PLC and Floor & Decor Holdings Inc. gained in after-hours trading after Berkshire Hathaway Inc. disclosed it had bought stakes in the companies in the third quarter, according to Securities and Exchange filings released on Monday.

New York City-based Royalty Pharma is the largest buyer of biopharmaceutical royalties and went public at $28 a share on June 16. On Monday after the close, shares advanced 5.5% to $44. Berkshire bought 13.1 million shares in the third quarter, a new position for the investment company run by billionaire Warren Buffett.

In the same period, Berkshire bought 817,000 shares in Floor & Decor, a Smyrna, Ga.-based retailer that sells hard surface flooring and related products. Floor & Decor shares increased 7.6% to $139.89 in after-hours trading.

In the same set of filings, Berkshire revealed that it exited its prior positions in Merck & Co. Inc. and Liberty Global PLC.
