Novatek on Monday reported that its production and gas sales increased in the first quarter compared with the same period a year earlier.

The Russian natural-gas company said hydrocarbons production reached 1.76 million oil-equivalent barrels a day in January-March, up from 1.65 million a year earlier.

In addition, gas sales volumes increased 3.6% to 21.43 billion cubic meters. This was despite liquefied natural gas sales falling 24%, reflecting lower cargoes sold on the spot market.

Gas volumes sold in the Russian market increased 7.2% to 19.56 billion cubic meters.
