Caisse Générale de Retraite des Agents de l’Etat signed an agreement to acquire 61.45% stake in Oragroup SA (BRVM:ORGT) from Emerging Capital Partners LP, Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement, PROPARCO SA, The Belgian Investment Company for Developing Countries and DEG-Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH on November 21, 2019. As a result of the acquisition, Emerging Capital Partners LP will sell its partial stake while keeping a 20% stake in Oragroup SA. In addition, Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement retains a long-term 40% stake in Orabank Ivory Coast and its branches: Orabank Burkina, Orabank Guinea Bissau, Orabank Mali, Orabank Niger, and Orabank Senegal. Jean Louis Mattei is likely to be the future representative of Generale de Retraite des Agents de l Etat on the Board of Orabank. The transaction is pending regulatory approval. As on October 29, 2020, The transaction is approved by Banking Commission of the West African Monetary Union. BNP Paribas acted as financial advisor for Emerging Capital Partners and also overseeing the sale process on behalf of Emerging Capital Partners.
