Nissan Motor : e.dams to race on new circuit for Formula E Mexico E-Prix

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Nissan e.dams is back racing in Mexico for the third time this weekend for rounds eight and nine of the 2020/21 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, on a new circuit for the all-electric racers. The multi-configuration Autodromo Miguel E. Abed facility outside the city of Puebla will host the Formula E action for the first time. Team driver Sebastien Buemi scored a podium last time out in Mexico, at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit.

'This is a brand new track for us all in Mexico, and a brand new challenge,' said Tommaso Volpe, Nissan's global motorsports director. 'We've been working hard since Monaco to understand and develop our new Nissan Gen2 Formula E powertrain and the drivers and engineers are keen to continue their work on the track this weekend. Our latest Gen2 powertrain was developed between our Nissan EV road car engineers and our Formula E team.'

Nissan races in this world championship to bring the excitement and fun of zero-emission electric vehicles to a global audience. As part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality across its operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050, Nissan intends to electrify all-new Nissan vehicle offerings by the early 2030s in key markets. Nissan aims to bring its expertise in transferring knowledge and technology between the racetrack and road for better electric vehicles for customers.

Nissan is a pioneer in the electric mobility field in Mexico. Nissan LEAF was launched in Mexico in 2014, becoming the country's first mass-market 100% electric vehicle, while the second-generation LEAF was launched in 2018 with great success. Recently, Nissan reached the milestone of 700 charging stations across the nation, both in public spaces and throughout its dealership network, forging the path for a new era of mobility.

'We had some good pace in Monaco, but now we must work hard to turn our racing performance into championship points in Mexico.'
