MONETA Launches the MONstep Project: One Step Further, the Bank Wants to Employ at least 3.5% of Disabled People within Four Years

Prague, 7 October 2021

To have at least 3.5 percent representation of disabled people in the total number of three thousand employees. This is the goal of the MONETA Group's ambitious new project called MONstep. In the first phase, the bank will work with the non-profit organizations Etincelle and Kolibřík CSR to integrate people with disabilities into its corporate structures. The first selected candidates will join the bank in November.

"We would like to show all our disabled fellow citizens that their health limitations are not a barrier to working at the bank, that they need not be afraid of it. That is why we have decided to cooperate with two renowned non-profit organizations dedicated to assisting the disabled in their efforts to enter the labor market. We hope that this effort will be successful," said Klára Escobar, HR Director of MONETA Group. The bank currently employs 1% of people with disabilities and wants to at least triple this number within four years. "We believe that the diversity of work teams brings many benefits: it contributes to better cooperation in teams, allows us to look at things from a different angle and ultimately helps the development of everyone," says Klára Escobar.

"We are pleased with this approach. Our task will be to select suitable employees with disabilities, train them and accompany them. We also want to help prepare the environment within the company. We have developed procedures for this and manuals," says Kateřina Broža, Director for Social and Development of the Etincelle Social Enterprise Group. It is this organisation, in cooperation with other social enterprises, that prepares social franchises for use in the corporate sphere. One of them is the social franchise of back office operations and client support Kolibřík. Zdeněk Kosour, Executive Director of Kolibřík CSR, adds. "I am very pleased to be involved in this inspiring project, where Kolibřík will help connect the needs of the corporate company with the potential of PWD and PWH employees through consulting. I believe that together we can create a great workspace for people with disabilities who will once again demonstrate the high potential they can bring to large companies in the financial sector."

Thanks to the know-how of the non-profit organisations, the recruitment process will begin with the first job applicants at the bank during October, when they will be interviewed directly by their future employer. Successful candidates should start working at the bank's Ostrava call centre, Prague headquarters and branch network in the Central Bohemia region in November.

The name of the project MONstep: one step further came from the bank's internal employee competition; the winning proposal was finally decided by a jury consisting of representatives of Moneta and the two non-profit organisations. "In addition to the first three letters of our bank's name, the beginning of the name

The bank has been traded on the Prime Market of Prague Stock Exchange since 2016. The bank has focused on retail and SME oriented business model with a strong position in the consumer and agriculture segments. In addition, the bank provides customers with insurance products and investment funds. also evokes the French meaning of the possessive pronoun My, and the word step is the English word 'Step', which in turn evokes Moneta's step towards the disabled. The jury also agreed that this name best describes Moneta without barriers, and finally, it fits best with its older sister, which is the MON FAIR Diversity and Inclusion Commission," said Zuzana Filipová, Director of Sustainability and Communications at the MONETA Group.

MONETA has been involved in social responsibility issues for a long time: since 2015, a unique grant program has been operating within the bank, whereby non-profit organisations can apply for financial support in the field of social care for the disabled and socially vulnerable only through one of the bank's employees: they thus become imaginary ambassadors of the organisation in question, their cooperation becomes long-term and often grows onto a personal level. MONETA also pays its employees for two working days a year for their volunteer activities, for which it was awarded the Top Responsible Company title in 2017. Since May this year, the MONETA Clementia Foundation has been operating, which waives the financial obligations of the bank's clients who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in a critical life situation. In the four months of its existence, the foundation has already waived the financial obligations of a total of 12 applicants, including six families affected by the June tornado.
