Kocaeli University Türk Mekatronik Team, of which Kordsa was the platinum sponsor and composite materials provider, obtained the first place in Design Category in Turkey.

Kordsa had provided composite material support to the production of the vehicle designed by Kocaeli University Türk Mekatronik team. The team won first place at the TUBITAK Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle Race's Design Category with its vehicle. Design of the vehicle's outer shell and inner console as well as building a realistic vehicle as a result of the integration of domestic electronic and mechanical components were major factors in winning the award.

Reinforcement leader Kordsa's carbon fiber fabric was used in the vehicle designed for the TÜBİTAK Efficiency Challenge Electric Vehicle which took place on 27th August 2017 at the Körfez Circuit. Carbon fiber fabric produced by Kordsa was used in whole interior, inner and outer door, chassis, suspension and instrument panel of the 2nd vehicle developed and produced totally by the Türk Mekatronik Team.

The electrical vehicle designed in accordance with the requirements of the competition is 3,5 meters long, 1,7 meters wide and 1-meter high. The team, which previously produced a 430-kg single-motor electric vehicle, succeeded in reducing the weight of the new dual motor vehicle produced by using Kordsa's carbon fiber fabrics, by 45% to 240 kg.
