Knorr-Bremse AG's joint venture in China has started work on a new production plant to replace three existing factories, with operations expected to start in August, the company said Wednesday.
The German manufacturer of braking systems said Knorr-Bremse DETC Commercial Vehicle Braking Technology Co., a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co., is building the plant to expand manufacturing capacity and reduce production costs at the 50,000 square-meter site at Dongfeng Industrial Park.
Products manufactured at the site include brake control, air supply and steering systems, it said.
The company said the new integrated plant would boost cooperation with Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle, a joint venture between Dongfeng and Sweden's Volvo AB.
