Appointment of Kate McKenzie as a Non-executive Director

The Directors of Healius Limited ("Healius") today announced the appointment of Ms Kate McKenzie as an independent Non-executive Director of Healius, to take effect on 25 February 2021.

Commenting on Kate's appointment, Rob Hubbard, Healius' Chair, said: "We are delighted that Kate is joining the Board. Kate's strong background of executive roles in fast-moving sectors will contribute greatly to the Board as it continues to guide Healius' long-term growth.

"Kate's experience and expertise in digital transformation and change management, innovation, building effective teams and driving cultural change demonstrates her versatility and high calibre. BIOGRAPHY

Kate (Kathryn) McKenzie is a highly experienced Chief Executive Officer and Non-executive Director with extensive experience in large change management and turnarounds ranging across both the private and public sector, with particular expertise in the telecommunications sector.

Kate commenced her career in the public sector, working in various roles including as Deputy Director-General within the NSW Government. Kate then took on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Workcover Authority in 2000, leading a major reform of the scheme to return it to financial health. Her achievements included negotiating with healthcare practitioners to sign on to best practice guidelines to ensure better patient outcomes. After almost three years in this role, Kate moved to the Department of Industrial Relations and then the Department of Commerce.

Kate was approached to join Telstra in 2004 as the Group Managing Director Regulatory, Public Policy and Communications. In her 12 years at Telstra, Kate held a range of Senior Executive roles in strategy, marketing, products and wholesale. Her last Executive role at Telstra was as Chief Operating Officer, responsible for networks, IT, field services, property and NBN relations and delivery. She led a team of over 30,000 staff and managed an operating budget of $7 billion.

In 2017 Kate was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Chorus, a New Zealand top 50 listed telecommunications company. Under Kate's leadership, Chorus built out a fibre-to-the-home network to 87% of New Zealand. Kate also initiated cultural change and infrastructure transformation, implementing a digitisation and process efficiency program.

Kate is passionate about innovation and technology, creating new product lines at Telstra - cloud, bundles, shared data plans and software as a service and delivering a framework based around incubation, collaboration, human capital and new methods and technologies. Through this framework, Kate co-founded muru-D, an incubator which has produced 44 graduating companies, with 41 still in operation; Gurrowa, a co-creation lab, and partnerships with universities, such as investment in Quantum computing with the University of New South Wales.

Kate currently serves on the Boards of AMP Limited, nbn co Limited and Stockland Corporation Limited, and was previously on the Boards of Allianz, Foxtel, Sydney Water, Reach, CSL (a Hong Kong mobile business that Telstra had a stake in) and Workcover.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney.
